The Code of Ethics
Code of Ethics Training Courses & Requirements
REALTORS® are required to complete ethics training of not less than 2 hours, 30 minutes of instructional time. The training must meet specific learning objectives and criteria established by the National Association of REALTORS®.
Training may be completed through local REALTOR® associations or through another method, such as home study, correspondence, classroom courses, or online courses. Read the consequences for failing to complete Code of Ethics training.

national Association of REALTORS®: Code of Ethics CourseS
Mandatory ethics training for REALTOR® members was first established by the NAR Board of Directors at the 1999 Annual Convention and it includes the following objectives:
- Heighten awareness of the key tenets of the Code of Ethics
- Appreciation for the role the Code can and should play in professional lives
- Enhances professionalism and competency
- Encourages REALTORS® to view their Code of Ethics as a living, viable guide in their daily dealings with clients, customers, and the public
The current three-year cycle will end December 31, 2024.
There are two new online ethics training options offered by the National Association of REALTORS® to satisfy your training obligation.
- The first, is a CE course that qualifies for continuing education credit.
- The second is a new interactive, customizable, non-CE course.

NAR CODE OF ETHICS COURSE
Continuing Education Version
- Course offers an estimated 3 credit hours of CE for $29.95
- You must successfully complete the course to earn credit. Unless otherwise noted, the CE hours fulfill elective credit requirements.
- The CE Shop manages the CE credit program.
